Jim Boeckman is a business lawyer in solo practice in Austin, Texas.
Prior to establishing his own practice in 2008, he worked as corporate counsel and at large international law firms.
From 2002 through 2008, Jim Boeckman was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Toppan Photomasks, Inc., formerly known as DuPont Photomasks, Inc. Boeckman led the company's legal team, and advised senior management on a wide variety of legal and strategic issues, including general business, joint ventures, securities, litigation, employment, privacy, compliance, licensing, intellectual property, environmental, contracting and related matters.
Prior to joining Toppan Photomasks, Boeckman was a partner at Vinson & Elkins LLP from 1997 to 2002, in the Austin office. His practice focused on general corporate matters, with an emphasis on technology-related projects and companies.
Previously Boeckman spent over seven years as in-house counsel at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in increasingly senior positions from 1990 through 1997, including serving for several years as Senior Regional Counsel for Asia-Pacific, based in Melbourne, Australia. Prior to joining EDS, he was an associate in the corporate section at Locke Purnell Rain Harrell in Dallas, Texas.
Boeckman regularly publishes, is quoted and speaks on legal issues and trends in the legal services industry. He has written and been quoted in a variety of publications, including Law Practice Management, Risk Management, Texas Lawyer, Austin Business Journal, Recorder, Nearshore Americas, and Inside Counsel.
